From 3–6 June 2026, Underground Construction will participate in the International Defence Equipment and Services Exhibition HEMUS 2026, taking place at the International Fair Plovdiv in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The event is one of Southeast Europe’s leading defence and security exhibitions, bringing together international companies, government institutions, military organizations, and technology innovators.
At this year’s exhibition, Underground Construction will showcase its advanced container-based fallout shelter equipped with the Castellex Air550HCC Ultimate NBC air filtration system — a high-performance solution designed for protection against nuclear, biological, and chemical threats.
More information about the presentation is available on the official Underground Construction page: Underground Construction at HEMUS 2026
Advanced NBC Protection for Critical Situations
The featured shelter integrates Underground Construction’s modular container-based protective infrastructure with the advanced Castellex Air550HCC Ultimate filtration unit. The system is specifically engineered for fallout shelters, bunkers, panic rooms, and protected underground facilities operating in high-risk environments.
The Castellex Air550HCC Ultimate uses a multi-stage filtration process combining pre-filtration, activated carbon filtration, and H14 HEPA filtration to protect occupants from radioactive particles, toxic chemicals, biological contaminants, smoke, and hazardous airborne materials.
One of the system’s key advantages is its ability to remain operational even during infrastructure failure scenarios. The unit includes dual internal backup batteries together with a manual hand-crank emergency operation mode, ensuring continued airflow during power outages or grid collapse situations.
The system delivers up to 145 m³/h of filtered air and can support protected occupancy for up to 24 people while maintaining positive pressure inside the shelter environment.
Container-Based Fallout Shelter Solution
The container-based shelter concept presented by Underground Construction demonstrates a rapidly deployable and highly flexible approach to modern civil defence infrastructure. Compared to traditional fixed bunker construction, containerized solutions provide significant advantages in mobility, scalability, transportation, and installation speed.
Such systems are increasingly relevant for:
- Civil protection infrastructure
- Emergency preparedness programs
- Military and security operations
- Industrial safety applications
- Remote operational environments
- Critical infrastructure protection
The integration of advanced NBC filtration technology allows these modular shelters to function as autonomous protected spaces during a wide range of emergency scenarios.
HEMUS 2026 — International Defence and Security Platform
HEMUS 2026 will be held from 3 to 6 June 2026 at the International Fair Plovdiv, Bulgaria, under the auspices of the Bulgarian Ministry of Defence and other national institutions. The exhibition focuses on defence technologies, security systems, cybersecurity, unmanned systems, emergency response, and critical infrastructure protection.
Visitors attending the exhibition will have the opportunity to explore the Underground Construction container-based fallout shelter in person and experience the capabilities of the Castellex Air550HCC Ultimate NBC system firsthand.
